July Home Décor Trends 2014

July 2, 2014 by whm-blog-admin Leave a Comment

We’re in love with July’s décor trends!

July is such a great time of year. Between swimming with the kids, patio soirees and mini weekend getaways, July has us outside enjoying the beautiful summer sunshine.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t have time for gorgeous July décor trends! In fact, we’re more inspired than ever.

Are you ready to give your home a few easy updates this month? Here are some hot summer ideas we think you’ll fall in love with.

Mix Up Your Chairs

Matching tables and chairs have been the norm for years, but that’s all changing this season. This month, take the leap and mix up your chairs to create a unique look that’s right on trend.

The key to this trend is to make it obvious! Mixing chairs that are too similar doesn’t work. Make it apparent that you’re creating a collection by switching up the shape, style and material of your chairs.

But be careful not to go overboard. There’s a fine line between mixed and mismatched.

Give it a try by mixing chairs with and without arms, or chairs with high and low backs. Or even painting your two end chairs different colors.

Playing around with style and taking risks is half the fun. Trust your instincts and give it a shot!

Wired Accessoriesorbit accent chair in chrome

Wire is a must-have trend for the summer months because of its open concept feel. Its airiness adds an interesting structure to your space without weighing it down.

Think: wire-frame chairs, light fixtures, baskets and even smaller detailed accessories like fruit bowls, place mats or wall art.

Our top pick for wired accessories is the Orbit wire accent chair in chrome. It has a funky retro feel with a slim, black faux leather seat cushion for maximum comfort. The seat is removable too, so you can play around with your own accent cushions if the mood should strike you.

Oddball pieces like this often steal the spotlight in your home. We think it would look fabulous as an accent chair in your living room, den or even the kids’ bedroom.

Whether you go big or small, wired pieces are a fun summer trend you simply have to try for yourself.

Warm Greys

When we think of summer we don’t normally think of neutrals, but greys are making a big summer comeback.

Not all greys are cold. In fact, warm greys (those with yellow or reddish undertones) are as versatile as they are trendy and serve as a fabulous summer color.

Don’t be afraid to make the switch to warm grey walls this month. It’s an affordable and impactful way to change things up in your home. And finding a shade to match your existing décor is easier than you think.

The great thing about this trendy tone is its ability to intermingle with your favorite accent pieces and statement furniture. We love the idea of vibrant orange throws, sassy chevron pillows and a warm beige sofa to bring out the warmth in whichever grey you choose.

This trend is living proof that feeling grey isn’t such a bad thing.

Are you ready to make a summer impact in your home? Don’t let your busy tanning schedule hold you back from trying something new 😉 Let us know which July trends you plan on trying this month!
