Which NEW Items Caused The Biggest Stir At High Point Market?

We unveiled a whole new line of products at High Point Market, and here’s what happened…

The Spring High Point Market was a huge success, both for Worldwide Homefurnishings and for all the other participants, with trend-setting new designs presented across the board.

Buyers were flocking and stocking, and it was a busy couple of days for the Worldwide team.

The Worldwide Homefurnishings section attracted a lot of positive attention. This year we offered almost 150 brand new SKUs, and in terms of price points, our belief has always been that you don’t have to spend a million dollars to look that way.

We had a wonderful opportunity to talk with buyers, interior designers, and home stagers, and the best part about this industry is that we can always trust them to give us honest feedback.

In fact, we’ve come to rely on the fact that, when these trendsetters gush over a new home accent – perhaps an accent table or a side chair – that the accent will probably go on to be a best seller and set the stage for home décor trends.

Keeping that in mind, here are the items caused the BIGGEST stir at High Point Market!

A Touch Of France

The graceful curve of a high-backed settee with rolled arms, button tufting and exquisite detail in the stitching is an elegant nod to French inspired decor.

The look of the Martina Settee from !nspire makes us think of the dramatic flourish and luxury of French palaces, with its black velvet upholstery. This settee is also available in gray velvet, and the designers we talked to were excited to try this piece out in their clients’ bedrooms and dens. We think it works anywhere you might want to curl up with a good book or entertain friends in style. The matching rubberwood legs, in a turned post style, will stand the test of time.

Dine In Contemporary Style

This year’s most popular side chair is inspired by contemporary industrial design (no surprise, industrial is IN in 2017!)

The Ronan Side Chair from !nspire juxtaposes the warmth of natural (sustainable) mango wood with a gray finish that accentuates the natural grain of this solid wood. The refined design of the stainless steel frame provides an upscale aesthetic that makes this industrial look work. The lines are fluid, yet this side chair is a study in contrast. It’s the perfect marriage of finished and raw, and this makes it easy to match the Ronan with a wide selection of dining tables.

Comfortable And Retro Chic In One Perfect Package

The word ‘retro’ sometimes inspires the idea of discomfort, a piece that is meant to look good, but that isn’t remotely pleasant to use in everyday life. If you’ve ever sat in a 1970s sofa with hard wooden arm rests, you’ll know what we’re talking about!

But this is NOT the case with one of our most popular items at High Point: The Brandon Accent Chair.

Buyers went gaga over this elegant winged back with its full leather cushion seat and beautiful piping detail. The Brandon presents a retro-inspired style that’s actually comfortable!

The solid wood frame and rubberwood legs in a dark walnut finish grounds the white faux leather design and introduces an element of accessibility. There’s no doubt this home accent is elegant and would fit in a bright, modern condo or formal office; but it’s a balanced piece that could also fit just as easily in a cottage. Available in Ivory, Gray or Black, this chair is a great choice for any design style.

Taking Industrial Design To The Next Level

When you live in an urban space, or simply have a taste for minimalist, industrial design, it can be hard to find the right pieces to create the look you’re striving for. Enter the Bronx Collection from !nspire!

This collection made a BIG stir this year. Industrial design was everywhere at High Point Market, but our version was popular because, like the Brandon chair above, we’ve taken hard industrial design and softened it just enough to make it easy to incorporate into most décor styles.

The Bronx accent, coffee, dining and console tables all have certain design elements in common, which makes it easy to purchase and coordinate together to create a livable industrial space.

The tables sport a pedestal base styled to look like industrial piping in an antique black finish with distressed detailing. A tempered glass top gives you an unobstructed view of the interesting base, ensuring that your Bronx table is a true conversation starter.

The Bronx side chair matches perfectly with the dining table, with the same modern design and industrial finishes in distressed antique black with gray textured fabric. Most industrial pieces are about function over form, but with the Bronx collection, we’ve managed to bring form and function together for a look that’s as comfortable as it is stylish.

Complete the look with matching three, four or five tier shelving units—called etagères—and you’ve got the beginnings of an elegant industrial look with plenty of character and style. These units, with the same pipe design as the tables, are perfect for displaying pieces of art or books, whatever you value and wish to share with others. The simple clean lines keep the eye’s focus on whatever you put on the shelves, without hijacking attention away from your mementos.

All in all, the High Point Market was a ‘high point’ in the year for Worldwide Homefurnishings. It’s a pleasure to bring to the marketplace such unique and interesting pieces that are compatible with so many design styles. A pleasure that will continue for years, and Markets, to come!
