How to Plan the Perfect Pool Party

pool ring in the waterLast month we blogged on  how to get your patio pool-ready, this month it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Depending on where you live, the weather is probably amazing, so what better way to enjoy your  patio than with a fabulous pool party?

We’ve got a few small tricks to help you get into the swing of things without breaking a sweat. With hot dogs on the grill, the kids swimming up a storm and guests mingling with cocktails, everyone will wonder how you pulled it off so seamlessly.

Summer is fleeting and there’s no time to waste: So let’s get moving!

You’re Invited

Remember when you were a kid and getting mail was fun? Now that we’re older and it’s all bills and junk mail, people will welcome the nostalgic feeling of a physical invitation.

A beautiful invitation sets the tone of the party and creates more of a buzz than say, sending out a Facebook event invite (boring.)

Now is your chance to be authentic and creative.

Sure, sending out physical invitations requires a little more work on your part (tracking down addresses, buying stamps and a trip to the mailbox) but one thing for sure is you’ll stand out from the crowd.

We fell in love with the customizable designs on zazzle like this pool party invite….

 Delightful Décor

Your pool will no doubt be the main focus of your party (so make sure its been thoroughly cleaned and skimmed before your guests arrive) and everyone knows décor is one of the most important aspects any soiree.

Does your event need a theme?

Not necessarily, however the Hawaiian Tiki theme is a popular choice for summer parties, making use of palm tree decor, flowers, coconuts, grass skirts and luaus.

If the Hawaiian theme is a little too “out there” for you, keep it simple and sophisticated (but still fun!) with lots of bright colors.

Set the scene by draping paper lanterns across your space and perking up your picnic table with a floral runner and coordinating place settings. Feel free to have fun with colorful napkins and cutlery as well.

And of course, don’t forget to serve your tropical pool party drinks on a beautiful serving cart like our infinity 2-tier trolley in chrome for that hint of sophistication.

Anything that suggests “summer” will do.

Fabulous Flowers

It’s garden season (obviously) and the highlight of any outdoor summer décor is floral arrangements.

We use the term ‘arrangement’ loosely.

Cut lilacs, peonies, gerber daisies, tulips and even carnations are affordable and will make a beautiful impact on your backyard.

Use pretty plastic vases in bright beautiful colours or simple mason jars to add a bit of casual elegance to the affair.

An !nspire tip: Buy your flowers at the local farmers market. You do need to be open minded about the kind of flowers you want (you’ll be limited to what they have in the stall), but an entire bucket of seasonal blooms will cost you less than a flower store bouquet, plus you get to support local growers!

Now that your planning is done, you can look forward to the arrival of your guests and focus on having a fabulous time!

Have fun!
