From Summer to Fall Decor with Style

How to Transition From Summer To Fall Decor? It’s Easy…

Most of us know how to transition our spaces from winter to summer, but many of us have a hard time making the switch from summer to fall.

It’s important not to get lost in the idea that fall décor needs to consist of pumpkin-themed items or accessories with leaves plastered all over them.

There are several quick and inexpensive ways to give your home a look that’s warm, modern and autumn-ready.When Decorating for the Season, Start Small

You don’t need to overhaul an entire room to create a fabulous fall space. Start by making simple updates to your existing décor.

Glass lanterns and vases are popular accessories in several décor schemes many of us display all year round. Rather than swapping these accessories out for brand new pieces, alter them with hints of the new season.

Elements like deep green moss or long dark branches work perfectly inside your existing vases or glass pieces, creating an elegant fall theme without going over the top.

Changing your current summer flower arrangements for something new is another simple and relatively inexpensive way to bring a touch of autumn to your space.

Take in the fresh fall air with a walk to your local farmers market to see what you can find. Beautiful fall flowers will be in abundance in rich shades of orange, deep reds and plum.

Rather than mixing different types of flowers in a single arrangement, choose one type of flower in one color to keep your arrangements simple and monochromatic.

After all, sometimes less is more.

Embrace the Colors Of The Season

Most people associate fall with shades of orange, red, yellow and brown. We adore these traditional colors, but fall 2014 is about finding new hues to evoke a sense of the season.

We wrote about THE colour of the season, oxblood red, earlier in the month, but if red is a bit too much, there are other colors that are on-trend you can consider.

Shades of peacock blue and deep gold create a classy upgrade to your home. These colors marry seamlessly with bronze, copper and brass pieces; a trend that erupted this summer and is still going strong this fall.

To no surprise, plum, fuscia and eggplant tones are also stealing the spotlight this September, except now we’re seeing them in stunning plaid patterns.

These purple plaids are appearing in accent pillows, table runners, throws and even curtains, making it a must-have addition to your space this season.

We love this pattern used in placemats, making a seasonal impact and completely changing the mood of the kitchen or dining room.

If you’re thinking of upgrading your dining table this season, purple plaid looks beautiful atop the Senza Dining Table In Walnut because of its rich wooden accents.

Alter The Seasonal Ambiance

While summer ambiance brings lightness and refreshing qualities, fall ambiance caters to warmth, coziness and spicy qualities.

With the daylight hours turning shorter every day, it’s a great time to place some ambient lighting around the house. Our favorite way to do that is with candles.

When it comes to small spaces like bathrooms, mantels or fireplaces, tea light candles create a simple, calming element to set a cozy mood. For a larger space, like a dining room table or accent shelf, clusters of chunkier candles or lanterns work best.

Incorporating natural accents and fall-like elements is the ticket to transition. For example, dark wood accents can add an element of natural elegance and warmth. Even if you prefer lighter décor (think lots of glass), you can incorporate pieces like the Senza Dining Table that has a glass top (light & airy) and dark walnut legs. These kinds of transitional pieces are perfect for bridging the seasons.
