April Décor Trends

Fresh flowers, a pop of color, and breezy window dressings

Officially, the first day of spring was on March 20th but for many of us, spring hasn’t quite sprung yet. Little signs are beginning to appear: the grass is turning a brighter shade of green, and the purple crocus are poking their heads out. It’s time to capture the momentum of the season and freshen up your home to match.

You can see how a single burst of color can make all the difference in a room, like the red glass bowl on the Frankfurt dining table, featured here. Freshening up your favorite rooms can be a snap, with our spring décor tips.

April Décor Trend #1: Fresh Flowers

If the outside isn’t quite cooperating yet, bring Spring indoors with fragrant blooms that will add a fresh look and feel to any corner of your home.

While the ground outside might be sprouting snowdrops, the best blooms for indoors are ones that will withstand the warmer environment and bring that burst of color that we all need at this time of year.

Blooms to get that are evoke all that is fresh and new about spring:

  • Tulips
  • Hyacinth
  • Daffodils
  • Iris

!nspire tip: Are you having a dinner party? Avoid overly fragrant flowers with competing scents to ensure that you and your guests aren’t overwhelmed. Heady scents combined with the odor of food can be an unpleasant combination.

The vibrancy of fresh cut flowers will be enhanced by strategic placement in your home, using accent tables such as the Athena Console Table. The rose gold finish adds warmth without creating a color clash.

April Décor Trend #2: A Pop Of Color

Another way to add a pop of color to your home is to add accents in an array of complementary colors. Many of the Pantones for Spring 2016, as described in ELLE Magazine, are bright and bold.

You can easily update the look in your home by adding brightly hued accent pillows, vases for your spring blooms or changing up a lampshade.

April Décor Trend #3: Breezy Window Dressings

You’ll be opening the windows to let in the fresh spring breezes soon enough so it’s time to look at your window dressings and perhaps making a few changes to seize the best part of the spring season.

The trends for spring include richly colored jewel tones and metallics but in keeping with the freshness of spring, you could add a sunny warmth by incorporating another of this year’s Pantone colors of choice: Buttercup Yellow.
